Choosing a Service Company
Choosing the right service company may not be as easy as it should be.
As well as simple issues such as Price, Service, Length of Contract, we have some tips for ensuring you get a good deal for your organisation. |
| Price |
Price is a very important factor and the cheapest might not actually be such. Prices should be compared for comparative service. A company offering only 8 service visits a year should be cheaper than one offering 12 service visits. Our opinion favours the higher frequency (8 v's 12).
Beware of hidden extras. Many companies will charge extra for providing a Duty of Care document if requested.
A very cheap quote may be reflected in the level of service you will receive. Many internet companies will subcontract out all their work and when the price is driven down it is often on-site service and customer service that suffers in the long term. |

| Service |
The washroom service industry has a varied record on the levels of service provided versus customers expectations. Poor service has left many customers in the UK with a bad impression of the sector.
However, there are many companies much more committed to service levels. We would recommend asking if a company will guarantee their service levels where by any failure to do so should result in a refund and a break of the contract. |

| Length of Contract |
Here we can take issue with a lot of service companies operations. The only time you need a contract longer than one year is when expensive equipment is being installed such as hand dryers. Sanitary bins are not expensive units and prices can be seen online to confirm this.
Lengthy contracts are the norm when a sales rep on comission is involved. It is how they get their comission but you are probably paying for it.
Longer contracts may also have clauses in them to increase the price each year. |

| Verdict |
If you are using sanitary services for the first time then always get more than one quote. Even if this is done over the internet, make sure you speak to them as well as you need to know someone will be there if you have any problems.
Customers looking for a better service than what they have presently should look for guarantees and avoid lengthy contracts. You might find a smaller company then sells out to the big one you were trying to get away from! |
